Enucleation is an oculoplastic surgery that removes the entire eyeball from the optic nerve when needed from an eye trauma, tumor, or ocular disease.

After an eyeball is removed, the patient has the option of having an artificial eye made and fitted into the eye socket to normalize their appearance.
